TWO young Mossman residents are lucky to be alive after losing control of their vehicle in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The male and female, in their 20s, were driving along Bonnie Doon Road towards Cooya Beach between 4am-6am on Sunday morning when they crashed their Toyota Hilux into a ditch.
The female was transported from Mossman Hospital to Cairns Hospital with minor injuries before being discharged. The male passenger escaped without injury. It is still unknown who was driving the vehicle and if alcohol was involved.
“The investigation is still ongoing and all we can say is they’re both very lucky,” Constable Liam Gibson of Mossman Police said.
“The incident happened about 200m from the Captain Cook highway on Bonnie Doon Road, driving towards Cooya Beach."
