REVIEW: Carnivale organisers start with a knockout event

Published Friday 13 May 2016

The Wonderland Spiegeltent - the showpiece of Carnivale 2016 - opened with a fantastic phenomenon entitled Cabaret Limbo last night at Dixie Park.

Cabaret Limbo presented its sensational opening night - the first of 12 - and captivated its audience with what is deservedly described as jaw-dropping contortion, gut churning aerial acrobatics and staggering illusions.

This intimate version of Cirque du Soleil left the audience craving for more.  The mix of sensual tension, daring feats of skill and strength and a feeling of inclusion in every talented act generated an amazing evening of irresistible entertainment.

The performers perform so close to the audience that you just can’t help feeling a part of everything that is going on around and above you, especially during the fire eating and juggling. It gets really quite warm!

This was a glorious way to launch Carnivale 2016 and Knockout Events, the new organisers for Carnivale, should be feeling just a little bit more relaxed if this is the standard of event that we can expect from our beloved Carnivale, now in its 23rd year.

Cabaret Limbo is a must do event.  As the organisers say, come and see what all the fuss is about and don’t miss your chance to see the show.  It’s so hot that Madonna came twice!
