Published Thursday 26 May 2016
The 2016 Mighty Mossman Annual Show is just around the corner and will run from Sunday 24 July and the public holiday on Monday 25 July.
This year the show celebrates it’s 65th anniversary. But it’s far from retirement!
Indeed there are five new members who have joined the committee to help make this 65th year a really spectacular show. The new committee members who have joined the team are Gordon and Dennis Berzinski, Marilyn Watson, David Trewick and Matthew Watson. Each and every new member of the committee has made it quite clear they want this anniversary year one to live long in our memory.
The organising committee with these new members have been working hard since last year’s fantastic show and have come up with some new surprises for 2016 including a massive Magic Monday $2,000 Cash Raffle with thousands of dollars of store vouchers for second, third and fourth prizes. They are hoping this will encourage everyone to come along to enjoy all the sensational entertainment on BOTH exciting days.
All the traditional displays and demonstrations will be in place including the wood chopping challenges, equestrian competitions, horticultural and agricultural displays and side show alley with all the rides, stalls and show bags.
Thrilling highlights this year, will include Matthew George, the incredible Chain Saw Wood Sculptor and the electrifying Whip Cracker, Tim Riley performing a breathtaking display and attempting a few tricks on any visitor brave enough to accept the challenge.
The visiting district of Malanda is celebrating 100 years of wood chopping this year and is putting in some mighty displays for their centenary performance at this year’s Mossman Show competition.
In the afternoon of Magic Monday the new ‘mighty’ $2,000 cash raffle will be drawn but you have to be present to claim your prize. Raffle tickets will be given out, absolutely FREE, to everyone who books their tickets either online pre-event at Trybooking or buys a two-day family or two day adult/pensioner pass at the gate on Saturday or a one day ticket on at the gate on Magic Monday.
This FREE draw will be made mid-afternoon on Magic Monday and you can claim your cash or store vouchers immediately. But to ensure you don’t miss out remember you have to be on the showgrounds to claim your prize!
“We are happy to be able to try a few new things in this our 65th year to ensure visitors enjoy both big days on this years mighty Mossman show,” Show President Matt Hatfield said.
