LIMBO premiere kicks off Spiegeltent spectacular tonight

THE internationally acclaimed LIMBO will premiere tonight at the Wonderland Spiegeltent.

The headline act of the famous travelling tent’s stay in Port Douglas warmed up for the opening with a full dress rehearsal last night as the sun was setting near the Sugar Wharf in Dixie Park.

The circus-burlesque inspired show has travelled the world, including a massive five-month season in London, and plans to ‘blow people out of the water’ over the next 10-days, according to Wonderland Spiegeltent owner Colin Davis, who bought the tent after seeing it at a festival in Germany.

“We thought it was pretty important that we come in with a really well known, international show to start with,” Davis said.

“We’ve seen the show a number of times and run into them at all the different festivals we attend. We’ve seen their show in Edinburgh and at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, so we know it was the perfect type of show to bring up to Port Douglas.”

Audiences will look on in awe as elements of cabaret, acrobatics, circus and burlesque are fused together for a jaw-dropping hour of non-stop entertainment.

The act includes elaborate stunts, sword swallowing, fire breathing and unbelievable contortion all to the rhythm of live music.

The Belgium inspired Spiegeltent, built in the 1930s, is tailor made to host the stunning LIMBO performance, which will run from today until Sunday 22 May.

A small amount of tickets remain for the premiere tonight and can be purchased at www.carnivale.com.au or at the Box Office at the Wonderlan Spiegeltent at Dixie Park.
