AFL CAIRNS: Port Douglas makes it five straight, set up bumper clash with Cutters
Published Tuesday 31 May 2016
PORT Douglas continued its winning-streak with a convincing 64-point victory over Manunda Hawks on Saturday.
The Crocs have now won five straight and will enter this weekend’s bumper clash with South Cairns full of confidence.
Defender Jonathan Hobbs and big man Kallum Oates were both brilliant for the home team, while Peter Bury continues his consistent form after moving to Port Douglas from Geelong. He has been super this year, while Sam Scally, Wes Glass and Jesse Mawson were all solid contributors in the 19.10 (124) to 9.6 (60) win.
Captain Kye Chapple booted another six-goals to be the most damaging forward on the ground, the Crocs setting up the win with a six-goal second term before ramming home the advantage with seven final quarter majors.
They now have the opportunity to leapfrog the Cutters on top of the AFL Cairns table if they can get the job done at home this Saturday.
