UPDATE - 4:45PM: Man dies following serious motorcycle crash

A man has died following a serious traffic crash in Ellis Beach earlier this afternoon.

Around 1.15pm, police were advised that a motorcycle had crashed on the Captain Cook Highway around two kilometres north of Ellis Beach.

The motorcycle rider, a 25-year-old man from Kuranda, was seriously injured and later pronounced deceased on the scene.

The Highway was blocked in both directions but traffic is now beginning to flow again.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Police will be directing traffic and urge drivers to be patient.
