U16 Astute Financial Douglas Muddies are celebrating their third win of the season conquering Mulgrave by a 182 run margin and making some batting milestones along the way.

Muddies batsmen Nathan Deuble and Keel Sorensen returned to the crease with 32 overs to bat out. Tex McDowall was next to bat and contributed five, with Tom Harvey and Finn Stanaway both contributing three runs each.

The Muddies were looking very confident with a 200 plus score. Nick Rayner who came up from under 14's was next to bat. With the last over of the innings Captain Keel made his first ever fifty, with a score of 52 not out and Nick on 16 not out. The Muddies finished their innings with a terrific score of 7/282.

It was time for Mulgrave to bat and Muddies opening bowlers Ryan Doble and Tom bowled well with Ryan taking the first wicket.  Reuben Allison was the next bowler to take a wicket.

Muddies continued to take wickets with Levi Trewick and Nathan both finishing the Mulgrave batters with Mulgrave all out 11/100. With 17 overs left, Captain Keel sent Mulgrave back into bat, hoping for an outright. The Muddies bowlers bowled well with Levi taking two wickets and Curtis one. Mulgrave finished on 3/83 off 17.

Best bowling for the match was Ryan with 1/20 off eight, Reuben 3/13 off seven, Levi 4/26 off seven, Keel 2/ 15 off nine with wickets each to Nathan, Daniel, and Curtis.

It was a great end to the season with such a great win and seeing out Muddies’ players Levi and Keel in their last junior cricket game.

A big thank you to Steve Doble and Bill Coulthard for coaching and managing the team and all the best for next season Muddies!!
