Pre-polling booths are open in Mossman and Port Douglas

PRE-POLLING for the Douglas Shire council election opens today in Port Douglas and Mossman.

Local residents will be able to vote ahead of polling day on March 19 at the Port Douglas Community Hall (13-29 Mowbray Street, Port Douglas) and Pinjara Place in Mossman (3-7 Mill Street, Mossman) from Monday to Thursday between 9am-5pm, and Friday between 9am-6pm.

Postal voting applications must be completed by 7pm this Wednesday March 16. Applications for a postal vote or an electoral visit vote can be made by email, fax, post or in person at the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ).

Where can I vote on election day?
Douglas Shire polling booths will be set up in the following locations on polling day on Saturday March 19 from 8am-6pm.

Alexandra Bay
Alexandra Bay State School, 1630 Cape Tribulation Road, Diwan (full wheelchair access).

Daintree
Daintree State School, Osborne Street, Daintree (assisted wheelchair access).

Miallo
Miallo State School, Miallo Road, Miallo via Mossman (assisted wheelchair access).

Mossman
Mossman State School, 30-34 Front Street, Mossman (full wheelchair access).

Port Douglas
Port Douglas Community Hall, 13-29 Mowbray Street, Port Douglas (full wheelchair access).

Wonga
Wonga Beach State School, 48 Snapper Island Drive, Wonga Beach (full wheelchair access).


When will election results be available?
Results will be published on a rolling basis when they become available on the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ) website on Saturday March 19.

The ECQ will not publish the result of any seat while there is still a mathematical chance that more than one candidate could be victorious. Results will also be updated daily as postal votes are received until March 29, with daily final votes available on the website from 4.30pm.
