It was reported a 25 year old man escaped barefoot through bushland west of Wangetti after allegedly being abducted, suffering from what appeared to be rope burns and stab wounds.

It was alleged the young man was abducted late last Saturday and forced into a vehicle where he was assaulted in various locations.

After being left tied to a tree, it will be alleged the man was able to untie himself and make his escape, walking through bushland to Hartleys Crocodile Farm where he sought assistance approximately 11:00 am yesterday.

Mr Peter Freeman, owner of Hartleys Crocodile Farm told Newsport that his staff assisted the young man.

“He told staff he had been assaulted and needed medical assistance.  We called police and the ambulance.  In the meantime we sat him down, cooled him down with water, gave him a sandwich and a cup to tea.

“By then paramedics arrived and treated his scratches and wounds,” said Mr Freeman.

The man was taken to Cairns Hospital in a stable condition yesterday and has since been released.

Police reported three men appeared in court this morning.  Two of the men have been charged with attempted murder, while all three were charged with various other assault offences.

Senior Constable Russ Parker from Far North District Crime Prevention in Cairns told Newsport a Queensland Police Service Media Release will issue shortly.
