POLICE have charged a 34-year-old Miallo man following an alleged assault of a woman at a Bamboo Creek Road residence.

It's alleged the man attended the address just after 7.30am on Thursday morning and began removing items from a shed. When challenged by the woman, who was known to him, the man allegedly punched her a number of times to the head and made threats of further violence toward her before driving off.

The 42-year-old victim sustained facial bruising and swelling as a result of the incident.

Police located the man at a Mossman-Daintree Road address on Friday afternoon and he was taken into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of burglary, assault occasioning bodily harm and disqualified driving and has been bailed to reappear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on April 6.
