Suspension of disbelief became a reality on Sunday afternoon when the Clink Theatre held its pre-opening of Grease the Musical.
Residents of Austcare and Port Haven were treated to the full dress rehearsal in preparation for the bumper run of shows starting tonight.
This writer was fortunate to be among the audience and having seen the movie and several stage productions, including one in London, can confirm the local production is most impressive.
The script follows the stage rather than the movie version, giving more room to move when it comes to the risqué moments, which are not excessive and stylishly accomplished.
Performers are all from Far North Queensland and have been rehearsing diligently for many months.
Local productions of this standard don’t come along very often so for a memorable night-out get down to the Clink Theatre to catch the show.
Opening night for the public is tonight Tuesday March 29, and the play will run for 10 days.
Tickets are still available but are selling quickly, visit www.clinktheatre.com.au for more information.
