ON Thursday the ladies played their basketball grand final at the Cyclone Shelter. The two opposing teams were the Almost Angels and the under 16’s Douglas Heat

The game was fast and furious with play alternating from one end of the court to the other and back again and sometimes back again, in a matter of seconds.

At the end of the first quarter the score was even at 7-all.  In the second quarter the slightly faster Under 16’s kept their opponents scoreless at 15 to 7.  The third quarter saw both teams score eight points each, to finish with 23 to 15.

In the last quarter it was the turn of the more experienced Angels to keep the Heat scoreless. Unluckily for them, several of the Angels’ shots rimmed-out, but they narrowed the gap to the final scores of the Douglas Heat 23, and the Almost Angles only two points behind at 21.

The MVP was the well-deserved, Douglas Heat’s Ebony Bland who scored 13 points. The stand out player for the Almost Angels with 12 points was Jade Philp.

The new season commences for the men on Wednesday July 13 and Thursday July 14 for the women. Ladies wishing to play should contact Kerry Larsen on 0416202201 and for the men, Lukas Teasdale on 0422292693.
