RUGBY UNION: Reef Raiders ladies take centre stage

Published Friday 15 July 2016

The ladies will take centre stage on Saturday from 3:00pm at the Port Douglas Sports Complex when the annual Ladies Day event is held prior to the Reef Raiders rugby union team hosting JCU.

This is an ideal way of thanking the women-folk  for helping out in the club, through committee work, working at the club, or just supporting the players by coming to watch and ‘putting up’ with them playing on Saturdays and training on Thursdays.

To add to the festivities, the electronic scoreboard will be launched prior to the 4:00pm kick-off.

The club received a grant from the Stronger Communities Program, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development on behalf of the Commonwealth of Australia, for the installation of the scoreboard.

The club thanks Warren Entsch MP and the Cairns Community Enterprise assessment committee who identified the project eligible for funding under the Stronger Communities Program.

There won’t be a shortage of drinks and nibbles. Adams Greenscene has generously donated the champagne and QT Resorts are supplying the nibbles.

Meanwhile, the Reef Raiders are still looking for their first win of the season and will be hoping to break the drought on Saturday.

The rest of the season’s schedule is:

July 23: Show weekend – no games
July 30: vs Mudcrabs
August 6: vs Wanderers
August 13: vs Southside – final game of seniors’ season
(All matches at PD sports complex at 4:00pm)
