This week, ‘My Secret’ was berthed at The Reef Marina for a week and since the expansion De Lisle III, Vegas, Sovereign III and Lady Mystique have visited the marina said Rob Cruz, manger of The Reef Marina.
“We will have two permanent superyachts arriving this year the Beluga, 35 metres and Flying Fish 31 metres”, said Mr Cruz.
“It’s evident our superyacht visitors are seriously looking for things to do here. Superyacht booking agents are recognising Port Douglas as a port to visit,” he said.
Part of The Reef Marina’s marketing strategy will be to spruik The Reef Marinas’ capability for superyacht berthings. Mr Cruz has been networking with global superyacht agencies and has recently returned from a trip to Fort Lauderdale, Florida USA.
“We will also be working with Cairns and have connected with a group out of Cairns with an ongoing roster of superyachts arriving in Cairns,” said Mr Cruz.
“During their stay, owners of superyachts are always wanting to experience our unique facilities and niche services that Port Douglas and the Douglas region can offer.”
The Reef Marina is engaging with the world's largest global Superyacht agency, Burgess Marine. "Investing in this industry brings enormous benefits to Port Douglas" said Mr Cruz.
The Reef Marina's Andrew Hooper-Nguyen previously commented that the extension of The Reef Marina was so important on a practical level as it allowed the marina to facilitate a lot more commercial tour operator vessels as well as allowing private visitors and superyachts from all around the world to berth in the new marina.
“Our goal is to really make the reef marina one of Australia’s best marinas and we want to create a vibrant waterfront for visitors and locals alike,” said Mr Hooper-Nguyen.
