Heading up to Atherton for this week’s one day game Captain McEnroe decided it would be good for a team meeting at Mareeba Maccas to discuss the days tactics.

The tactic was simple; win the toss and bat, and bat we did.

Ben Shrimpton and Dan Harris were elected to open on a batters paradise, although looking good with his first couple of balls, Shrimpy fell for just 7.

Kingy joined Harris out in the centre in what was to be the partnership of the day with 71. King and Harris were putting on a batting clinic until Harris fell for a well-made 41.

Tom “Teenage Terminator” joined King but didn’t live up to his nickname falling for just 4. This bought Sammy Evans to the crease with King for what was to be another great partnership of 64 before King fell for a marvellous 57.

Sammy “Facebook” Evans was the next to go with a well-made and much needed 48. Benny V didn’t do much damage making 1, Buckets 9, Captain Grumpy 14, Darren Wall 3 not out, Pete “happy” Gilmore 4 not out and Redfern wasn’t needed after the Muddies allocated 35 overs the score was 9/216.

Captain Agro and Gilmore opened up for the crabs and it wasn’t long before the first wicket fell in Happy Gilmores second over picking up a double wicket maiden with some fantastic bowling. Captain Agro had to wait ’til his fourth over before he got his first then second in what was to be another double wicket maiden. Gilmore continued his great spell and was rewarded with another wicket  finishing the day with 3.

Redfern and King replaced Agro and Happy. Redfern bowled his usual tight lines picking up his first in his second over finishing the day with 3 as well. But it was just Kings day after a great batting performance King continued with the ball picking up a couple with his tight line bowling.

Bowling figure for the day A Lucas 4 overs 2/5, P Gilmore 3/16 of 6, D Redfern 3/26 of 6 and N King 2/16 of 3.  Atherton all out for 65.
