The Muddies B Grade are sitting a game clear on top of the one day ladder after a thrilling win over the Mulgrave Punjab’s.

Losing the toss and bowling first all 11 of the Astute Financial Mud crabs were fired up and ready to rip through the Punjabi outfit.

Captain Grumpy and Mr V opened for the Crabs and only toke a few balls of Grumpy’s over before he toke out middle and leg unfortunately it was a no ball that aside the Skipper picked him up a couple of balls ladder trapped in front LBW.

Between Captain Bobby and Mr V the pair put the fear of god into the Punjab’s terrorising the batsman with some quality fast bowling at the change of bowlers the two had the Punjab’s at 3/33.

King and Gilmore were the next to come on with King starting off were  he left from the last round and Gilmore very unlucky not to claim a couple himself with his tight bowling. Luco experimented with Dan Harris again and that ended after three overs. The good guy Redfern and Ben Shrimpton came on next and tied things down with both claiming one wicket each.

At the end of the Punjab’s overs they finished 9/126. Bowling figure were A Lucas 7 overs 3/24, B Vikionkorpi 7 overs 1/22, N King 5 overs 2/20, P Gilmore 5 overs 0/13, D Harris 3 overs 0/20, D Redfern 5 overs 1/15 and B Shrimpton 3 overs 1/9.

Also a special mention to young Benny Shrimpton who took an absolute screamer on the weekend going vertical to his right and taking the catch. That’s two screamers in two games for young Ben.

With 126 on the board to chase down things didn’t go according to plan losing Harris for yet another dodgy LBW for 7 score at 1/13 that turned quickly to 2/15 then 3/24, 4/30, 5,34, 6/39 before Mr V and Darren wall put on a 42 run partnership and steering the Crabs back in the right direction before Ben Fell for 22 Enter Captain Bam Bam.

Luco had seen enough form the sheds and decided to end it quickly banging 34 of just 8 balls that had the Punjab’s fighting with each other the Skipper’s 34 came with five huge 6’s.

The bat of the day went to Darren Wall. Wally nudged the ball around making 28 n/o and if he hasn’t told you yet I’m pretty sure he will be happy to fill you in. The Muddies passed the Punjab’s score 7 down 7/127 and went a game clear on top.

This week see’s the final double header at home with the C Grade lads starting at 8:30 against Innisfail and the B Grade boys at 1pm against the now second placed Barron River. Barron had a lucky win over us the last time we meet and the B Graders are looking for redemption.

So if you have nothing on this Sunday head down to the home of cricket for two top of the table matches. Go Crabs.
