Momentum continues to find a solution to internet issues

One of the issues identified following the recent Douglas Business Forum, was the continual interruptions and inconsistent internet coverage within the Douglas Shire.

As President of the Douglas Chamber of Commerce (DCC), Helen De Ross addressed the matter and immediately instigated a meeting with Mayor Leu to discuss how they could best represent the business and wider community and work toward a positive outcome to these issues.

A subsequent meeting has been confirmed with Telstra, Douglas Shire Council and DCC for January 14, where an interim solution will be sought.

Ms. De Ross said Telstra have asked for feedback prior to the meeting, which will be collated at the close of business Monday, January 11.  This information will be forwarded directly to Telstra by Council.

“These will be fairly high up people in Telstra in QLD at least and this is our opportunity to convey these issues directly to them,” said Ms. De Ross.

“We’re waiting to hear back from NBN who took our issues up the line to find options for an interim solution.  They anticipated we would have a response early January.

“Not much to update at the moment but we are following up and will maintain pressure on all parties to identify an interim solution.  We will advise on the outcome of the meeting as it’s important everyone knows that it is being investigated and we are trying to find a positive solution,” said Ms. De Ross.

DCC is in the process of collating feedback from businesses and the wider community about current issues they are experiencing with their internet connectivity.
