The Astute Financial Muddies C Grade players enjoyed slightly less extreme conditions at home Vs Barron River last Sunday afternoon with the opposition winning the coin toss and electing to bat.

Simon Cody opened the bowling with a maiden while Scheisser came back from a wayward last game spell to return a miserly 0/4 after 4 overs before breaking through off a rising delivery to a sharp catch to Keith Taylor at gully in his 5th over and 1/6 by his 6th over.

Barron 1/22 had ridden some luck with a few balls flicked or nicked through the air short of fielders and continued this way whilst the patient Muddies toiled away, Barnes breaking through with the score on 44, bowling Barron #3 and figures of 1/7 off 5.

Sorensen eying off a B Grade promotion for next season, bowled 10 overs straight, picking up 2/25. Wickets fell at all three of the drinks breaks with the second occasion seeing Barron 6/73 at Tea.

Post tea Barron #5 and #7 bats teamed for a 46 run stand before a superb caught and bowled to Cody started the last four wickets falling for just 12 runs. A spell from part time spinner Sheldon Walz returning 3/10 off 8 overs had Barron finally dismissed in the 55th over for 131.

Bowling honours went to Walz 3/10, superbly supported by Scheisser 1/26; Barnes 2/34; Sorensen 2/37 (off 16 overs) and Cody 2/24.

Keith Taylor and Steve Doble were watchful for the 4 overs left in the day’s play and ended at 0/2 ready to take a semi final approach next week to knock off the runs in this 60 over a side match, given they have just come from 30 over form and will need to step up to 90 over form in the Season Finals.
