After the defeat in the one day grand final the Astute Financial Mud crabs ventured down to cairns to take on the 3rd placed North’s in the last of the two day games for the season.

Captain Bobby lost the toss again and the Muddies were sent into the field on another hot sticky day. Captain Bobby and Benny V opened up for the Crabs and had North’s in all sorts sending down some heat of their own. Both Benny and Bobby claimed two wickets each leaving  North’s 4/13. With the heat getting to the two openers Captain Bobby made a change to the bowling bringing on Harris and King and it wasn’t long before the two were in the thick off things claiming two wickets a piece, with another bowling change which saw Willow and Redfern come on to clean up the tail.

Tight bowling and some great catching from Willow and Sam Evans eventually saw North’s fall for just 74.

Bowling figures for the innings was A Lucas 12 overs 2/17, B Vikionkorpi 7 overs 2/7, D Harris 7 overs 2/12, N King 6 overs 2/9, J Wilson 3 overs 0/15 and D Redfern 8.5 overs 2/9.

With just 74 on the board, to chase Young Ben Shrimpton and Dan Harris opened the batting and it wasn’t long before the Crabs lost their first wicket with young Ben bowled.

With the score at 1/4 King joined Harris at the crease with the pair putting on another 40 run partnership before Harris was trapped in front plum LBW. King was next to go also LBW for a well-made 26 score at 3/54. Ethan looked the goods early but feel for 9 and Benny V feel for 15. Sam Evans had his hitting shoes on making his way to 36 that included a few towering sixes Tommy Goodall was the final wicket of the day getting stumped for 13.

With first innings points going our way the Muddies are currently 7/126 and will be looking to add to that this week and having a good hit out before the semi’s.
