At a fundraiser held over the weekend at IGA, Mr Pitt wore traditional Fiji wear while Fijian tunes played throughout the day as well as the Fijian flag flying high as a sign of solidarity.

“Cash Johnston played a bit of traditional Fijian drums to keep the donations coming in. Michelle from Wheely good coffee donated $1 per cup of coffee sold for the day and Marilyn put on a BBQ and a raffle. We had a kids lucky dip with donated toys,” said Wendy.

Raising a total of $583 on the day, Wendy said the local community was “extremely generous with donations and offers of help to support our cause.”

In the initial three days of the gofundme - Help Fiji Cyclone Recovery campaign, they had raised $1,413.

According to the ABC, the death toll from the cyclone that hit Fiji last weekend, had reached 42, with reports emerging entire villages have been wiped out on some remote islands.
