Have your say on proposed Flagstaff Hill walking trail design

Council will host an information session on the proposed Flagstaff Hill walking trail [this evening] to provide residents with a greater understanding of the exciting project.
A consultant from designers World Trail will join Mayor Julia Leu and Council staff to help explain the project and answer any questions from the audience on the proposal to link Four Mile Beach and the Port Douglas Waterfront with a breathtaking trail along Flagstaff Hill.
The information session will be held at the Port Douglas Community Hall on Monday 8 February from 5pm-6pm.
The conceptual design for the proposed walking trail links Four Mile Beach and Dickson’s Inlet and features spectacular sea and mountain views.
Hugging natural terrain overlooking the Coral Sea, the proposed 1.5km trail follows the contours of Flagstaff Hill and boasts lookouts to Double Island, Four Mile Beach, Low Isles, Snapper Island and the Daintree Rainforest.
Mayor Julia Leu encouraged anyone involved in the tourism industry and fitness enthusiasts in particular to attend the community information session and provide feedback on the project.
“Council’s aim is to provide a walking trail that features water views from the southern end of Four Mile Beach all the way to the marina and is surrounded by nature,” Mayor Leu said.
“The project is still at the conceptual design stage so there is plenty of opportunity to incorporate any feedback received in the final design.
“Once completed, the walking trail is destined to become a ‘must-do’ attraction for locals and visitors alike which showcases our spectacular natural assets.”
Large format conceptual designs can be viewed at Council’s Mossman Administration Building, Mossman Library, the Port Douglas Community Hub in Mowbray St, the offices of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree at the marina and on Council’s website.
