A CHARITY responsible for making properties in Port Douglas available at no cost to women dealing with breast cancer is calling on people to give generously this Christmas.

The OTIS Foundation recently launched its annual Christmas appeal, urging people to help a stranger by 'Gifting a Night' in lieu of presents to loved ones and support the charity which provides for those experiencing breast cancer.

OTIS Foundation General Manager, Rachel Mason, said its properties Island Point retreat Nautilus Apartments in Port Douglas are made available at no cost to many families each year as a space to take time away with loved ones from the huge emotional challenges of dealing with breast cancer.

“Our annual Gift a Night Christmas appeal is one of the most important fundraisers for The OTIS Foundation and allows us to fund the costs associated with cleaning and linen at properties like those in Port Douglas”, Mason said.

“Each $50 donated enables us to provide one night at one of our 36 properties to someone who needs it most.”

Donations to the appeal are issued with a certificate which can be personalised to give to friends and family acknowledging the unique gift you have donated in their honour.

The OTIS Foundation currently has 36 retreats across five states available at no cost to women living with breast cancer and their families.

Anyone who has faced a breast cancer diagnosis is eligible to stay at an OTIS property along with their partner, family or friends.
