PORT Douglas and Mossman businesses are being encouraged to bring their shop fronts to life this Christmas for the chance to win a $500 advertising package on Newsport.

And with the special VIP Christmas Shopping Night just two days away, time is running out to bring the Christmas cheer to Macrossan and High Street.

The Douglass Chamber of Commerce has again championed the late night shopping initiative this Thursday 15 December, with gift hunters able to tick their Christmas lists off locally with shops remaining open until 9pm.

“Christmas is such a special time of the year and we want everyone to get out and enjoy their shopping this Thursday night,” Irene Cats, Newsport Sales Executive, said today.

“The winner of the Christmas Window Competition will be judged on Thursday night so get your decorations sorted and get involved."

New Douglas Chamber of Commerce President, Wade Greasily, said it was important the community supported local businesses this holiday period.

“Douglas residents, this is the best opportunity you have to support local businesses this year,” Greasley said.

“On behalf of the Chamber we ask all residents and businesses to embrace this shopping night.

“And shop owners shouldn’t forget the Christmas window display competition and judging.”

The VIP Christmas Shopping night invites all businesses in the Douglas Shire to participate and post their ‘specials’ for the night on Facebook.
