Far North Queensland disability housing tenders open
DISABILITY HOUSING
TENDERS have opened for a new disability housing project in Far North Queensland, bringing jobs and more accommodation options to the region.
Disability Services Minister Coralee O’Rourke said this is part of the Palaszczuk Government’s $3.3 million commitment to deliver better housing options to Queenslanders with disability.
“All Queenslanders deserve a safe and secure home that meets their needs,” she said.
“We know how important it is to provide quality, specialist disability accommodation that allows people with disability to live in their community, close to family and friends.
“This purpose-built accommodation will provide two local people who have high and complex needs with the accommodation they require.
“This is a win-win for the region, as it will also mean more jobs for the Far North, where we know unemployment is high.
“I encourage local contractors to get their tenders in to make the most of this opportunity.”
The Far North Queensland disability accommodation tender is due to close on Monday 16 January 2017.
