WORK is underway in Mossman to repair a small sinkhole that appeared on the captain cook highway.
The sinkhole has caused minor traffic disruptions and requires emergency works which may continue into tomorrow.
Motorists heading to and from the Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation are asked to be mindful as Council workers attempt to fill in the hole.
Sinkholes are caused by water erosion underneath the surface and can be minor in nature, such as the one in Mossman, or more severe like the video below illustrates.
In short, there's sinkholes and then there's sinkholes!
