RUGBY UNION: Reef Raiders to feature French flair in final fixture

THE Reef Raiders will introduce some French flair to their line-up in the final fixture of the season when they meet the Southside Crusaders on Saturday at the Port Douglas sports complex at 4pm.

Coach Stewart Cowe said the young Frenchman attended practice on Thursday night and he’ll be used at either fullback or flyhalf.

“We are not sure where we’ll play him, but we’ll certainly capitalise on his skills. Because of the unavailability of a number of players – Jack Murday and Lachlan Cowe – we’ll be moving a few around in the backline to accommodate the absence of the aforementioned,” said Cowe.

Following a disappointing season, Cowe said the players will be looking to “having some fun”, but at the same time, still trying to end on a winning note.

“Top of mind will be to end our losing streak, but at the same time, we want to enjoy ourselves,” he said.

The Crusaders will end their season in the top four and a place in the semi-finals. Of their 12 games, they have won and lost six matches.
