MOSSMAN: 50th anniversary of the battle of long tan

AUGUST 18 is Vietnam Veteran’s Day and the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan, involving 105 Australians: 17 were killed and 25 wounded.

To honour this day, the Mossman RSL will be conducting a service at 11am at the RSL Hall, 28 Johnston Road, Mossman when all Vietnam veterans will be honoured along with local J Barrett who paid the supreme sacrifice.

RSL president Ron Savage will address the gathering, followed by Father Barry Paterson. Anyone who wishes to give an address is welcome.

A wreath laying service will follow (wreaths cost $25 each) and are available at the sub branch. The service will be followed by a BBQ and veterans and family are welcome to stay.
