IT’S a match made in Port Douglas. The iconic Porttoberfest will team up with the new Hemingway’s Brewery in October to celebrate all things beer in true tropical style.

The iconic beer festival is in its ninth year and is currently receiving unprecedented interest from interstate visitors keen to enjoy the German inspired festivities in heaven sent Port Douglas.

“We are excited to team up with Hemingway’s for this year’s festival,” Porttoberfest founder Sam Cullen said.

“Never before have we seen such interest from people wanting to plan their trip specifically around the Porttoberfest event.

“We feel the combination of the Porttoberfest brand and the new Hemingway’s Brewery at The Reef Marina will bring the biggest attendance we’ve seen yet.”

Hemingway’s Brewery General Manager Dean Scadding said the venue was an ideal location for Porttoberfest. The new craft alehouse will be offering its own range of beers and also plan on bringing in German brews for the event, which kicks off on Saturday 15 October.

“It’s a perfect fit,” Scadding said.

“We’ll have live music and the German dancing girls, plenty of our beer and great food, and we’re also looking to get a couple of other breweries involved that can supply some German.

“We’re really looking forward to it.”

Ticket information and more details about the event, which was established in 2007, will be announced soon.
