AFL CAIRNS: Crocs munch goalless Tigers

Published Monday 8 August 2016

PORT Douglas was expected to brush aside North Cairns Tigers on Saturday, but not to the tune of 199-points.

The Crocs were merciless against their winless opponent and kept the Tigers goalless in a frightening performance at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

The sheer weight of numbers through the midfield overwhelmed North Cairns, as did the plethora of options in attack for the home side.

Jesse Mawson was a standout booting four goals and collecting a stack of the ball, while spearhead Kye Chapple (eight goals) and Todd Shapter (three goals) were dangerous all afternoon for Port Douglas. Chappleā€™s haul takes his season tally to 93 and within striking distance of another ton.

Brett McKeown, Declan Kelly and Pete Bury were also among the best in the massive 29.29 (203) to 0.4 (4) victory.
