Interstate buyers express interest in Palmer’s land sale

Land sales in the Port Douglas property market will be the focus of attention on the weekend when 10 prime golf course frontage lots overlooking Palmer Sea Reef go under the hammer.

And according to Callum Jones, who represents the agents, The Pink Company, he is quietly confident the auction will attract a large amount of interest. The auction will take place at the course’s clubhouse on Saturday and starts at 10am.

“Although it’s hard to gauge how many the auction will attract, we can say there has been strong interest and this includes potential buyers locally and interstate.

“Some of this attention has been from Western Australia, NSW and Victoria,” said Jones, adding it is an unknown at this stage how much will be paid for the land.

The 10 lots vary in size from 804 to 874 square metres and is part of a land clearance linked to one of Clive Palmer’s companies, Palmer Leisure Proprietary Ltd.

“What adds to the interest is that there is not much land around, which makes it a tight market. These are also lovely blocks of land and you’d expect there will be a lot of interest,” said Raine & Horne’s Travis Schumacher.

“There is no questioning the quality of the estate. You have a prime view over one of the course’s holes and is truly a wonderful location,” said an owner, who earlier bought and built nearby, but preferred not to be identified.
