Crocs crush North Cairns with second half blitz

PORT Douglas have set up a mouth-watering clash with reigning premier Cairns Saints this weekend with a convincing 89-point thumping of North Cairns on Saturday.

The Crocs will meet their preliminary final nemesis after brushing aside the Tigers in the second half at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

After leading by just 13-points at half-time the home side flicked the switch to pile on 8.2 to 1.0 and take a 57-point advantage into the last term.

Jesse Mawson was a star in attack with seven goals while Alex Bendle, Peter Bury and Sam Scally continued their strong early season form.

Youngster Liam Edwards did his chances of lining up against the Saints at Griffiths Park no harm with a solid display, while Declan Kelly was arguably the Crocs best performer.

Port Douglas lost a thriller by two-points to the Saints in last year’s AFL Cairns preliminary final.

Both sides have started their 2016 campaigns strongly sitting inside the top-four at 2-1 after three rounds, setting up the anticipated match-of-the-round clash this Saturday.
