Trivia night to raise funds for good cause

Wildlife Care Centre at the Wildlife Habitat is one of the chosen charities to be sponsored by the K-Star Trivia at the Central Hotel on 16th September to raise some much need funds.

With running costs exceeding $40,000 per annum, the Wildlife Habitat receives no additional government funding.

“This year we have had an amazing response from local businesses offering support, with an awesome prize pool of over $7,000. This will include auctions and raffles; the lucky door prize alone for the night is valued at $450,” said Narelle Spencer.

Funds raised last year of approximately $2,200 for the Care Centre will go towards a soft release flight aviary for rescue birds.

“The aviary will eventually have a dual purpose for the development of any chicks that are hand-raised in the centre. They need the opportunity to learn how to fly (fledge) safely and adequately for release back to the wild. They will be “soft released” which means they will be able to come back to the aviary as needed where food will still be provided and available for a set amount of time. This ensures a smooth transition to learning to forage.

“The proceeds from this years trivia night will also go towards this soft release and free flight aviary,” said Ms Spencer.
