The astute Muddies 1st 11 travelled back down to Cairns for day two of the round two match against the Rovers.

Trailing the rovers by three runs the orders were given by captain positive Adam Lucas that we would bat for an hour and get a good lead on the rovers.

Randal (dad) Smith and Ben (I use to be skipper) Vikionkorpi were the not out batsman overnight and they continued on their merry way until Randal feel for a very impressive 90, this bought Jed (Alex) Walsh to the crease Alex didn’t hang around for too long being bowled for a duck, buckets followed after that for 11, Lucas for a good duck and finally Benny V for a marvellous 82 leaving the good bloke Redfern not out for 10 and the muddies declaring 8/213.

With a lead of  126 the Astute Muddies head out looking for an outright win, things turned pear shaped pretty quick with a dropped catch of the first ball by Redfern who couldn’t handle the deep heat.

What happened next was something the  lads don’t want to see again even though the bowling was tight the rovers RING IN batsman started to put the muddies bowlers all over the park before the first wicket feel at 102 a couple of the rovers batsman continued to punish the bowlers eventually declaring with eight overs to go at 6/215, best of the bowlers Adam (captain positive) Lucas 11 overs 1/35, Kaidon (2 TALL) Sorenson four overs 1/34 and the good bloke Redfern finishing with 4/77 of 11.

The Muddies batted for the eight overs only losing the wicket of Benny V for eight and finishing off a good win 1/44 45 runs short of the outright.

This week has the muddies B & C grades at home for the first double header of the year, C grade at 8:30am and the B’s following that.

Heads down and nippers out lads.
