The Astute Financial Muddies travelled down to Cairns to take on the Rovers in the first 2 day match for the season.

Arriving well ahead of the start time the B Grade boys had a chance to catch the C Grade lads take victory over Tully in their first game of the season.  A big well done to all the C Grade lads.

When asked what do you want to do today Adam (Captain Agro) Lucas told the lads he would be happy for us to bat all day, well that didn’t happen because Captain Agro lost the toss and the Rovers elected to bat.

Captain Agro and Satbir (Deep) Singh opened the bowling and after 19 overs the score was 0/19 at the first drinks break.  Deep and Luco bowled some good tight lines but the Muddies needed a breakthrough. Kingy and Kaidon took over and with some fantastic tight bowling the two of them were very unlucky not to get the much needed breakthrough.

With what looked to be a long day ahead for the Muddies Captain Agro turned to the all-round good bloke Daniel Redfern for a bit of magic and yes, it was magic that Redfern produced, claiming the first wicket in his second over then a further two in his fourth  leaving Rovers 3/48.

Deep seemed inspired by the performance and produced a little bit of magic himself removing the stumps of a Rovers batsman.

Kaidon (2 tall) Sorenson then chipped in for his first wicket and combined with the Redders for the run out of easily the best of the Rovers batsman.  The Rovers were 6 /75 and eventually all out just 11 runs later for 86.

Deep 13 overs 1/13, K Sorenson with a great spell of 14 overs and finishing with 3/10, but the stand out bowler for the day was the all-round good bloke Daniel Redfern 17 overs 5/30. With the Astute Financial Mudcrabs sent in for 90 minutes chasing 87 finished the day on 3/83 trailing by just 3 runs and a whole day next Sunday. Randel (Dad) Smith wasted no time and is  currently on 60 not out batting like a super star.  Dad will be looking for the 40 runs next Sunday to bring up his ton.

Currently at the crease with him is Ben (I use to be skipper) Vikionkorpi on ten.  Wickets that fall were Taylor (2), King (6) and D (bowl me skipper) Harris for a DUCK.

Heads down this week gents get a good score on the board and lets fight for the outright.
