Council moves to secure Carnivale 2016 and beyond

Newsport has learnt today that the Douglas Chamber of Commerce will officially end its management of Carnivale.
The Douglas Chamber of Commerce is preparing a media statement for tomorrow with regard to todays announcement.
Mayor Julie Leu said today that “The Douglas Chamber of Commerce has an Agreement with Council to manage Carnivale until September 2017.
“Council has only just received notification from the Chamber that it does not intend to continue with the Agreement. In light of this, Council will now conduct an internal review to determine the best model to manage Carnivale in 2016 and beyond,” said Mayor Leu.
It is believed that the successful management of Carnivale requires significant changes to the current operating schedule and model.
“Due to the significant change in management, the dates and duration of Carnivale in 2016 are yet to be determined,” said Mayor Leu.
Newsport expects a full statement from the Chamber of Commerce tomorrow and Councils decision following the completion of the internal review.
