Smoke plumes bellowed from the Ridge Estate hillside and could be seen from Port Douglas
Late yesterday and last night Newsport received images from readers who were alarmed by the outbreak of fires in several locations.
Today the Port Douglas Fire Brigade has confirmed that the fire, which began yesterday afternoon on the Cassowary Ridge Estate Hill, was a Council controlled burning.
