What looked like being a wet day at the mud pit quickly turned into a bright and sunny day and the crabs were hungry for another victory.

Next in line for the Astute Financial Mud Crabs was North’s. Captain Bobby won the toss and elected to bat first much to the delight of the Muddies 11.

Randel and Dan Harris were told to pad up by the skipper and sent into bat. Dan was the first to go using the wrong side of his bat to sky a ball and be caught for 10 score 1/16. Next to go was Randel who was caught in slip by a ripper which forced even Randel to high five the North’s slips fielder.

Enter Nathan King and Benny V with the score at 2/41.  These two decided to ramp it up a bit putting on a magnificent 136 run partnership before Kingy was stumped for a great 55 score at 3/177. Young Tommy Goodall joined Benny at the crease but only managed 2 runs as  he watched Benny V continue the show that he was putting on.

Benny V was the talk of the day putting balls all over the park destroying the North’s A grade bowlers and was rewarded with a magnificent 108 not out for the Muddies. The way things are going Benny is in for another big year for the muddies.

Final score after the Muddies 35 overs was 3/203

With the Muddies destroying the North’s bowling attack surely things could get better for them. NOPE,  Deep had other ideas.  Tearing through the first 3 of North’s batsman Deep bowling some of that Deep Heat finished with 3/3.

Captain Bobby opened from the other end but just bowled too well and was unable to pick one up himself at 3/16 Bobby decided on a bowling change and bought on the dynamic duo Sorenson and Redfern.

Young Kaidon picked up a wicket with his first ball and didn’t stop there bowling good tight line and length bowling ending up with figures of 4/23 overs.

With some good field placements Redfern picked up the last 3 finishing with figures of 3/2 and North’s all out for an embarrassing 27.

There is a huge buzz around the club at the moment with both sides unbeaten. The B Grade lads have the bye this week and then return for some tough games against Barron River sitting on top and then Mulgrave Toads sitting second. But with the boys having the right attitude at the moment The Astute Financial Muddies  (sitting 3rd) will be hard to stop.
