This weekend the five branches of North Queensland Surf Life Saving come head to head with 300 competitors converging on Four Mile Beach to stake their claim for the upcoming North Australian Championships.

Cairns, Ellis Beach, Etty Bay, Mission Beach and Port Douglas will battle it out over the two day carnival in a range of events from beach sprints, flag sprints, sprint relays as well as ocean swims, surf board and ski racing.

Competitors of all ages will be taking part from eight up to 70 years old.

The Kids Cameron Race will involve a board race of approximately 400 metres and swim of around 300 meters.

The 17 plus Iron Person Race consists of a ski race of 600 meters, board race of 400 meters and a swim of 400 hundred meters.

The events will take place in relays and in teams of three with branch prizes and male and female age championships up for grabs.  The under 8s and under 15s will receive medals for individual and team events.
