Clink Theatre to host world class performer
Published Tuesday 27 October 2015
Ali McGregor is a singer based between Melbourne and London. She started her career as a principal soprano with Opera Australia then ran away with the circus in the form of hit show La Clique (La Soiree) and will hit the stage this Wednesday with her cabaret show Alchemy.
She is now an award winning cabaret performer who has performed everywhere from The Sydney Opera House to London's West End and is one of the most in demand performers on the international festival circuit.
She was nominated for an ARIA award in 2014 and in 2015 was awarded a Green Room Award for her contribution to cabaret. In ALCHEMY Ali draws on her influences, from opera and cabaret, to trashy 80s pop divas.
With the finest jazz musicians, she creates unique hybrids from popular songs, standards and blues to create unique mash-ups and genre-defying versions of the likes of Madonna, Salt-n-Pepa and Kiss performed by a 1940s style siren in a Las Vegas jazz club. As one of Australia's most versatile singers, Ali brings a truly individual flavour to some of your most unlikely favourites.
ALCHEMY has performed at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Perth Fringe Festival, Brisbane Powerhouse, The Basement, Sydney, Melbourne Recital Centre, Hobart's Festival of Voices, London's Wonderground plus a regional tour of Victoria.
