Last Saturday 17th October, Lure Restaurant and the Reef Marina hosted the biggest and best Porttoberfest, Port Douglas’ annual beer festival, EVER!! That’s the view of both the revellers and the organisers.

??Over a thousand connoisseurs of the malt and hop mix that makes all beers of the world so mouth wateringly enticing, came down to the Reef Marina to soak up a beautiful afternoon in the tropical north sunshine together with a litre glass in hand, great German style foods on offer and a bierkeller bench full of friends.

?Organiser and owner of Lure Restaurant, Kelly Caughey said, “judging from ticket sales there was over 1,000 people, it was great.”

Three bands provided non stop entertainment from solo artist Rob Evans, Sleevless and Dr Elephant from Darwin and they kept the momentum going said Ms Caughey.

The litre steins went down a treat and the selection of beers on offer seems to have hit the mark perfectly.

?“We are looking forward to Porttoberfest 2016 but it will be even bigger and better with Hemingways Brewery and Barbados at the Marina.  There is an opportunity to collaborate and aim for 3,000-4,000 people for 2016,” said an excited Kelly.?

Lots of costumes were on view including the Lure staff. The boardwalk proved yet again to be an excellent venue for this event now in its 9th year.

The Porttoberfest is now a proven, vital ingredient in the Port Douglas Calendar.
