Wonga Beach community making a positive difference

As the year draws to a close, a number of events have been planned during December for the Wonga Beach community in support of creating a positive difference to residents.

As the community hub, Wonga Beach State School will host the events scheduled advised coorindator Therese Maloney.

“Due to quad bike use on Wonga Beach, Douglas Shire Councils Mayor Julia Leu has called for a community meeting on Tuesday December 1st at 6:30pm.  Other issues and opportunities for Wonga will also be discussed.

“On Wednesday December at 9:00am to 11:00am is the Community Planting Morning in the Wetlands Project. This project has been supported by many environmental groups, Douglas Shire Council and Wonga Beach School P&C information group.

“Sunday December 6th at 10:00am to 2:00pm Wonga Beach Community Market will be held with the upcoming festive season as it's focus.   This event has over 30 stall holders, with many being seafood, christmas hams, pies, and handmade gifts, even bric a brac and ca rboot stalls available. Food, beer and wine will be available throughout the event and the P&C have a stall with affordable toys. 

“All proceeds from this event will fund the planning and first stage of our Wonga Beach Community Garden project 2016.
