The aim of the Douglas Business Awards has never wavered in its ambition to celebrate and showcase the very best of the best in service and product delivery.
The customer-based voting system is recognition of excellence and a unique way for customers to make their desires known and for businesses operators and staff to be rewarded for their efforts.
Sam Cullen Douglas Business & Tourism Awards co-ordinator said the significance of the Douglas Business & Tourism Awards is that without the support of sponsors and guests, the Gala Awards Night would not exist.
“It’s been our intention to keep the entering into the awards free. This allows every business to be in the running for an award, which is around 650 businesses.
“We are very excited that this year we signed a two year major sponsorship agreement with Mackay Sugar, this shows a great commitment by Mackay Sugar as the regions largest agricultural company.
“It is a great indicator of Mackay Sugar’s commitment to their corporate and community responsibilities and we look forward to growing the event over the next two years,” he said.
Mackay Sugar’s Communications Manager Lorelei van Dalen advised that the importance of being a major corporate sponsor for events such as the Douglas Business & Tourism Awards was about growth.
“Mackay Sugar is extremely proud to support the Douglas Tourism and Business Awards. We appreciate the importance of supporting such events as they promote further growth across the region’s tourism and business sectors,” said Ms van Dalen.
Mr Cullen said sponsors and guest ticket purchasers to the Gala Awards evening are fundamental to the operation of the awards program.
Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas’s Director of Sales and Marketing Nathan Gadd said being a major corporate sponsor of the awards supports the community.
“Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort is pleased to be a major corporate sponsor for the Douglas Tourism & Business Awards and we recognise the importance of the awards which bring together the local business community for an opportunity to celebrate the shires achievements,” said Mr Gadd.
Sponsors can create goodwill and a positive association between their brand and the organisation they are supporting.
Next year Mr Cullen said they will be inviting other major corporate entities to join Mackay Sugar as major corporate sponsors in 2016 and future events.
“We would also like to acknowledge our sponsors below,” said Mr Cullen:
