Short swing golf: quicker, cheaper, cooler

As the Australian summer of golf season draws near, three of the main tournaments, the Australian Masters, Emirates Australian Open and the Australian PGA Championships are likely to spark some interest in any amateur golfer.

Palmer Sea Reef Golf Course are about to introduce something to target time poor and beginner golfers to the course.

Short Swing Golf is an opportunity for people who have an interest in golf but feel an 18 hole game is out of their league. Manager Ben Wood explains the process.

“We wanted to create an activity for people who are not overly serious about golf or for those who, after 3-4 holes on an 18 hole course, find the novelty wears off,” he said.

Targeting the non-serious and recreational golfer, Mr Wood said there is potential to learn technique and improve for anyone who is interested.

“They could be at the base level, but want to give it a go.  There could also be an opportunity for beginners clinics and pointers from Neil Wall who is an active touring golfer, he is currently doing the Australian Seniors PGA,” said Mr Wood.

The package includes 5 holes, 1 hour to play and your cart and all your equipment.

“We think it’s an opportunity for residents to have another activity to do during the off season.  We will also have a  5 hole social competition.

“We will officially launch Short Swing Golf on 29th November.  No experience is necessary and all age groups can participate,” said Mr Wood.
