QT Port Douglas has united with the local community this month by using their upper lips as billboards for men’s health and raising some much needed funds for testicular and prostate cancer and men’s mental health.
Movember 2015 is the thirteenth year the Australian-born fundraising endeavour has graced the faces of men and The Movember Foundation is now the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health.
QT Port Douglas has established its own Movember team, the Tropical ‘Taches and would like to invite all Far Northern local residents to join the team and raise as much money as possible.
“We want all local mo-bros and mo-sistas to jump on board the QT Port Douglas team and help us raise funds and awareness for Movember”, said QT Port Douglas PR & Events Coordinator Sharon Timms.
“The entire QT Hotels & Resorts family is supporting the Movember cause, with each property putting forward a Movember Ambassador. Representing QT Port Douglas this year is our fearless leader Rupert Sakora who is quite the Movember veteran with his stellar chops”.
QT Port Douglas Movember Ambassador Rupert Sakora said, “wearing a ‘tache is every man’s duty some stage in their lives and for us here in the tropics we’re issuing the challenge for that stage to be this Movember. This year, I’ll be channelling my inner ‘Lando Calrissian’”.
“Having a family member that has been affected by prostate cancer and its ongoing issues, Movember is an annual cause I always get involved in”, Mr Sakora said.
Ms. Timms also added “there’s some friendly competition going on between each of the QT properties to see who can raise the most money, so we need all the help we can get to put TNQ on the map when it comes to changing the face of men’s health”.
And for the Mo Sistas, they can support fundraising for Men’s Health through MOVE. The challenge to MOVE every day in Movember. This can involve taking a 30 minute walk to work, play a game of ping pong or go on an epic bike ride no MOVE is too big or small.
To celebrate all locally grown moes, QT Port Douglas will host their third annual End of Movember Party from 2pm on Sunday 29th November. QT chefs will fire up the burners and throw the ultimate ‘Dude Food’ BBQ, whilst Estilo bartenders will keep moes moist with a variety of drink specials. A DJ will entertain the crowd whilst all parading moes will be judged by the team at QT, with the winner crowned QT’s “Man of Movember” for 2015, and take home a spaQ gift pack for some post-shave pampering.
