The Reserves 9 goal turnaround on our last performance against South Cairns was unfortunately not enough to earn the 4 points on Saturday. The Boys worked hard in slippery conditions down in South Cairns with the game swapping leads all day and no side really dominating play.

While pressure on the ball carrier and around contests was high, the direct turnovers around the ground and rushed shots on goal cost the team in the end. With South Cairns applying the same amount of intent over the football both teams suffered from the slippery conditions and fatigue causing targets to be missed and messy football.

Trent Brown was as hard as ever on ball while Kallum Oates was a standout in the ruck and shifting forward to be a usable target. Andrew Macleod and Last weeks’ Cairns AFL rising star Jack Dickson Lit up the wings with plenty of run and excitement in the forward line. Matty Hunt and Darren Saxon worked hard off the half back shutting down South Carins’ run when they moved forward and giving us as many opportunities to open up the game as they could in the conditions.

By the end of what turned into a heated Last quarter the team went down by a solitary goal, Final scores 8.10.58 to 7.10.52. Needless to say an unfortunate outcome even if it was better than the ten goal thrashing last time they met at the Croc pit.

This weekend sees the Crocs try and overcome Cairns Saints in a highly anticipated home game.
