The Newsport Seafood Extravaganza Giveaway Competition has attracted a huge response, with 343 people entering the competition by either messaging Newsport’s Facebook page or sharing the competition’s Facebook post.
The lucky winner, James Perham from Mossman, and a companion of his choice will be spending a night in Sheraton Port Douglas’s luxurious deluxe lagoon-view room with a complimentary buffet breakfast, in addition to dinner for two at Salsa Bar and Grill Port Douglas and a free cruise for two on Lady Douglas river tours.
Newsport Publishing Managing Director Sam Cullen said the experiment of running the competition mainly through Newsport.com’s social media had proven successful, and invited other organisations to take advantage of the platform.
“We’ve had an amazing response to the Seafood Extravaganza competition - it’s proven to be a great way to shape and integrate product,” Mr Cullen said.
““Newsport’s Facebook page has a post reach of nearly 18,000 this week alone - Any business that wants to utilize his platform to better connect with the local market can contact us at 4099 5122 or by emailing competitions@newsport.com.au.”
Vicki Kurth at Managing Australian Destinations (MAD), who organised the competition, agreed that social media was a highly effective way to reach local customers.
“I think it’s a great result and it’s a really good way to get brand knowledge out there,” she said.
Held on May 31 at the Reef Marina, the Seafood Extravaganza is one of the crowning glories of Carnivale 2015 and will feature some of the highest-quality seafood around.
Mr Cullen and Ms Kurth extended their thanks to everyone that participated in the competition and to Sheraton Port Douglas, Salsa Bar and Grill Port Douglas and Lady Douglas River Cruises.
