Mobil Port Douglas still friendly through refurbishment

Port Douglas’s venerable Mobil station is getting a much-needed facelift.
The old building on Warner Street, which has been in place for 65 years, is being completely stripped out and replaced with a whole new shop.
The refurbishment should be finished by the end of August, according to site manager Tracy Gulliver.
“This has actually been several years in the planning,” Ms Gulliver said.
“The old store was 65 years old, not to mention being too small.
“We are building a bigger shop which will allow us to provide more automotive products, food and fishing supplies to the community.”
“We’re all very excited for it.”
In the meantime, Mobil Port Douglas will be operating out a demountable block adjacent to the pumps.
Ms Gullliver and attendant Steve Stewart said that throughout the refurbishment and afterwards, the Mobil Port Douglas would continue to provide the ‘same friendly service’ that the community had grown to appreciate.
