Achievements recognised at Mackay Sugar’s Mossman productivity awards

The second annual productivity awards was held at Mossman Bowls Club on May 15. 

MC Roy Weavers introduced two speakers for the evening.  Firstly Graham ‘Dino’ Dines from Agtrix who spoke enthusiastically about supply technology solutions for harvest management and supply chain efficiency in agricultural mills in Australia.

The second speaker was Andrew Cappello, the Chairman of Directors for Mackay Sugar who gave a state of the corporation speech to set up the awards ceremony for the 2014 awards and thank the sponsors, Rabobank, Marano Enterprises, Suncorp Agribusiness, Mossman Agricultural Services,NA and Qube Logistics.

There are seven zones in the coastal awards including the Daintree, Bamboo/Syndicate & Whyanbeel, Miallo, Mossman, Shannonvale/Cassowary, Mowbray and Julatten.

The winners were Daintree - J & B Reynolds (10.26 tonnes), Bamboo/Syndicate & Whyanbeel - Brenton Eagle (10.38 tonnes),  Miallo- Michael Giudice (10.82 tonnes), Mossman and Mowbray - C.Fasano & Co (12.49 and 14.12 tonnes), Shannonvale/Cassowary - J & J D’Addonna (12.15 tonnes) and Julatten – Gordon Rasmussen 10.40 tonnes).

The cane sugar season has already started again but it is hoped that the cutting will be completed faster than last year when it wasn’t finished until mid January 2015.
