The Mighty Mossman Show here July 19/20

Published Monday 29 June 2015

This years Mossman Show is looking set to be one of the best yet.

There's a whole mass of entertainment on top of the traditional showtime rides and sideshow stalls. This year the committee is very excited about the fact that Guy Maclean the world famous horse whisperer returns to fascinate and enthrall his far north fans. He last visited the show when little known about 5 years ago but since then he has become a household name around the world showing off his amazing gift.

He will be performing three times on each day so make sure you catch him during your visit.  He is a formidable force!

The 'Anything Goes' competition is on again with teams from the local schools, sporting clubs and community groups all vying on Monday (Day 2) for the $4,000 cash first prize to go to their selected charity. No one knows the games, trials and activities that they will face until the start.  So come along and watch the teams overcome the crazy challenges. And don't miss the colourful Noah's Thoroughbred Pig Racing with full commentary. It's always great fun.

There are plenty of stalls and displays to wander around to cartch up with friends and stock up on essentials like Dagwood Dogs and Fairy Floss. The fireworks close the show on Monday evening and its always a spectcular show.

Show President Matthew Hatfield explained, "We are very keen to keep the tradition of the show. It's what our local community enjoys and we see no reason to make any major changes but all things have to evolve so we've made sure that the entertainment and events move forward to guarantee the youngsters enjoy the day.  This year the showmans guild has promised some new rides for the family, so it's going to bigger and better."

Vice Pressident Kane Kerswell agreed, "The core works. Any changes we make will be small steps to improve that core of events.  We don't see that major changes are required.  The ticket sales are going up every year, so we just need to keep an eye on mixing and matching things each year like the welcome return of Guy Maclean, The Horse whisperer.  Everyone will enjoy his show.

"There are still sponsorship opportunities available so contact Ann Baldwin on 0419 731 141 if you can help.
