Port Douglas Basketball Club (aka Douglas Heat) is hosting a very special coaching clinic this Saturday, June 27, with Coach Uron Hawkins from the USA.

Coach Hawkins has been coaching at East Side High School in Newark, New Jersey, for the past 8 years and is also coach of the New Jersey RoadRunners, a team in an after school basketball program in the USA known as the AAU.

Coach Hawkins is very passionate about basketball and truly enjoys helping others to see how fun it is to learn the game, with many of the kids he's worked with going on to college to play with full scholarships. A few have even made it to play for the NBA. When he's not playing or teaching basketball, he is a science teacher and has a Masters in Biology.

The clinic will be open to players aged 11-15 years, and will be held at Port Douglas cyclone shelter, behind Port Douglas State School, 4 Endeavour Street, between 10am and 11am. Entry is free to current Douglas Heat players, $2 for visiting players aged 11-15. Spectators are free.
